spacer Welcome Anteaters

Welcome all new and returning Anteaters!

Welcome all new and returning Anteaters!Let me add my voice to the chorus of those extending our hospitable sentiments to all of you. As the 2017-2018 academic year is poised to unfold, I can imagine that this new year is a mix of excitement and anxiety. Like you, I’m anticipating another year filled with opportunities for growth, learning, discovery, excitement and innovation.

Undoubtedly, there will also be occasions where local, regional or national news and trends will challenge and test our cultural sensibilities as we struggle to make sense of and find our voice in attempting to have a say in how the affairs of the world are managed. I am also cognizant that for some of the new freshmen and transfer students, there are questions about how you might adjust to a new environment. Others of you, particularly our graduating seniors and graduate students, are pondering the realities of an uncertain future beyond these campus grounds. Many of you have been charting your college and career pathway for some time now and are poised and ready to make the transition. Others of you have given it some thought but not acted on any tangible ideas or preparation strategies. Still others of you may have been hesitant to think about it, believing that you have lots of time to prepare amid a more intense focus on your academic courses and projects. Whichever category describes you, Student Affairs is here for YOU to serve as a compass as you begin – and continue forward – your journey and adventure.

To help you map out your personal goals and college timeline, Student Affairs offers a plethora of resources and programs created with students in mind, to help guide you through important shifts in your thinking and perspectives. These resources are listed and linked on this website, so let me encourage you to both familiarize yourself with them and take advantage of them. By engaging with your peers, professors, staff and mentors along the way, you will find that your journey will be made much easier, and can become even more rewarding as you discover that so many pathways have been opened and illuminated.

I am confident that you have what it takes to grow and thrive on this journey of pursuing higher education and your career pursuits. Know going forward that your Student Affairs professionals and other campus personnel and partners stand ready to assist each of you in navigating the pathways to productivity and success in the ’EATER NATION and beyond.

See you around campus.

Vice Chancellor Thomas A. Parham, Ph.D.
