Message from Interim Vice Chancellor Dormitorio
Shocktoberfest Event Followup
Dear Campus Community,
Last night’s ASUCI Shocktoberfest event was cancelled due to safety and security concerns that occurred during the concert. The student organizers that hosted the event have put out the following message:

After the cancellation of the concert, we received social media reports of a brandished firearm during the artist's departure from the concert venue. University policy does not allow for any weapons on campus. The UCI Police Department is currently investigating the incident and we encourage any victims or witnesses to contact them at (949) 824-5223.
Shocktoberfest has been a campus tradition for 10 years. Student leaders, UCI Police Department and administration work together to create a fun, memorable and safe experience for attendees. While it’s extremely disappointing that the concert was interrupted, this action was necessary to ensure the safety and security of our students, which is our top priority.
Sincerely,
Edgar J. Dormitorio
