Thank you for joining us at theĀ Student Affairs Update on August 24th! The annual event offers an opportunity for SA staff to connect with each other as well as hear from division leadership.

Program contentĀ 

  • Vice Chancellor Banks shared an update on the strategic planning process. Feedback is needed regarding the proposed Vision, Mission and Values. Please use this link to access the survey. Your feedback is an important step in the process. The survey will remain open until September 23.
  • Associate Vice Chancellor Brice Kikuchi shared pertinent information regarding budget updates.
  • Vice Chancellor Banks announced the following Employee of the Year awardees.
    • Innovation award – Miguel Hernandez from Dean of Students
    • Excellence in Collaboration award- Chuck Adams from Student Health Center
    • Social Justice award – Erika Cortez from Womxnā€™s Center for Success
    • Distinguished Service award – Peter Thach from Counseling Center
    • Unsung Hero award – Herbert Chan from Student Health Center
    • Employee of the Year award – Victoria Tibbetts from Counseling Center
  • Student Affairs staff members who were not able to get a picture frame at the SA Update may stop by the 4th floor of Aldrich Hall, room 426 to pick one up:
    • 9 a.m. -11a.m and 1 p.m-3 p.m. daily
    • Monday- ThursdayĀ 
  • *Supervisors that would like to pick up the swag item for your department will need to let their staff know not to pick up the item on their own. Please bring a list of staff with you when you pick up.
  • New Student Affairs staff were introduced (new hires & new roles) . New hires in attendance received a Student Affairs backpack. New hires that have not received a backpack, can pick up the backpack at the same location and distribution times above while supplies last.

Program content

  • Student Affairs leadership shared information pertinent to the new year
  • ā˜€ļø Vice Chancellor Banks introduced Sunshine Grams, a way to send gratitude, thanks, a note of encouragement or a simple hello to fellow staff members. Print them at home or office in English or Spanish, pick some up at the Student Affairs office at 426 Aldrich Hall, or make your own using the downloadable graphics.
  • Student Affairs issued a social media challenge to all staff – to show off what makes the division shine, what makes you happy, and what goes on behind the scenes.
  • All attendees received a Student Affairs fanny pack
    • Student Affairs staff members who were not able to get a fanny pack at the SA Update may stop by the 4th floor of Aldrich Hall, room 405 to pick one up:
      • 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
      • Tuesday, Sept. 28 ā€¢ Friday, Oct. 1 ā€¢ Monday, Oct. 4
  • New Student Affairs staff were introduced (new hires & transitions to new positions)
  • Dr. Wyre introduced SA KIND: Keep Individually Noticing Dedication, and encouraged everyone to be kind to themselves and others.
  • Employees of the Month from the past year received their certificate/gift
  • 2020-21 Employees of the Year were announced
  • Officer Jordan Leyland and new canine recruit Cliff gave a live demonstration of UCIPDā€™s K9 program
  • Optional group photo taken outside at the end of the program
